Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

Assessment must confirm the ability to locate and identify contaminants within the training area, apply risk management and assessment, and monitor and review training area status.

Competency should be demonstrated in a range of actual or simulated range and training area management contexts.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Context of assessment

Competency should be assessed in the workplace or in a simulated work environment and in accordance with all relevant legislation and organisation requirements.

If assessment is undertaken in a simulated environment it is important that the simulation is a true representation of a range or training area and that a full range of contaminants is strategically placed throughout the area to enable the critical aspects of evidence to be assessed completely.
